Places to Visit in Seoul

Must Visit Locations & Attractions:
  • Namsan Tower

  • Lotte World Tower

  • Gyeongbokgung palace

    • Bukchon Hanok Village

    • Insadong/Ikseondong

  • Coex Mall

  • Gwangjang Market (traditional street food market)

  • DMZ (need to book a tour to visit)

  • Han River

    • Banpo bridge fountain show

    • Rent a bike and eat instant ramen & fried chicken

  • Hongdae (nightlife, food, shopping)

  • Sinchon (university area; so many great resturants in the area)

  • Myeongdong (think of Waikiki in Hawaii)

  • Lotte World (amusement park)

*My favorite activity in Korea is biking at the Han River (either at Banpo Hangang Park or Yeouido Park)! I rented a bike at a bike shop in the park and would bike around to watch the sunset.

My Favorite Places to Shop:
  • Hyundai Seoul

  • Coex Mall

  • Lotte World Mall

  • Myeongdong main street

  • Ewha stores (affordable shops in front of Ewha's front main entrance)

  • Hongdae (trendy, street-style shops; thrift stores

  • Olive Young (it is nearly impossible not to find an Olive Young, there are so many stores all around Korea; makeup, skincare, body products, etc)

  • Daiso

Just be mindful that many affordable and cheap clothing stores don't have the best quality clothes and don't make it through many washes. There were several instances where my clothes would fall apart after less than three washes. If you have the resources to do so, I recommend investing in higher-quality Korean clothing brands.

Also interesting to note, I noticed that the dryers at Ewha and Korean hotels were significantly hotter in heat compared to the US. Even on a normal heat setting, I noticed that my clothes drastically shrunk in size.
