Arriving in Seoul

After a 9-hour and 50-minute plane ride from Honolulu to Incheon Airport, I have finally made it to South Korea! I left Honolulu on 8/19/2022 and arrived on 8/20/2022 at 7 pm. I was required to take a total of two COVID tests- one prior to arriving and another one after arrival as per the current requirements. The current requirement to enter Korea was to have a negative COVID test result - you can either take a PCR test within 48 hours before the flight or a RAT taken 24 hours prior to the flight. I took a PCR test at Ala Moana Momi Heath (free for Hawaii residents) and the other at Incheon Airport. Once I got my test results, I uploaded the required Korean QR Code Website. All incoming travelers need to upload both of your negative COVID tests to this website.

I chose to fly with Hawaiian Airlines. If traveling internationally with Hawaiian Airlines, you get two free luggage. I was fortunate to have a whole row empty during my flight!

The process of going through the health inspection, immigration, and baggage claim was organized and quick. Uploading my pre-arrival negative COVID test results prior to arrival made going through the health inspection at Incheon much easier and less stressful. I was definitely well over-prepared. Once getting out of baggage claim, I took my arrival COVID test at Incheon Airport which cost ₩80,000. I was so impressed and shocked by how the airport was so organized. They take your COVID test through a plastic screen and rubber gloves (definitely very sanitary and COVID cautious). You need to upload your arrival COVID test as well to the same QR Code Website.

It took about 1-hour to get to Seoul from Incheon Airport. Since I was traveling with my family, I checked into Aloft Seoul Myeongdong Hotel for the time being, while waiting for the official dorm check-in day at Ewha.
